Los Angeles, CA- UCLA star and promising NBA draftee, Lonzo Ball, has reportedly ruptured his Achilles, the largest tendon in the human body which connects the heel bone to the calf muscle. According to sources, the Ball brothers were playing a pick-up basketball game at home in California against his younger brother, LaMelo Ball. While attempting to guard the younger Ball, Lonzo Ball snapped the Achilles in his left leg. “I felt a snap in my leg followed by unbearable pain” says Lonzo Ball. Unable to walk, Ball was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by ambulance. After arriving at the hospital, Ball was immediately rushed into surgery to repair the ruptured Achilles.
“My boy is gonna be a’ight, this is a small thing to a giant. Kobe tore his Achilles and it didn’t stop him. I’m just mad that my boys out here playing when they know we trying to build a brand, that stuff is too risky right now” says LaVar Ball, the father of promising star. LaMelo Ball says he was actually winning which made the pick up game become more intense and competitive. “We was just shooting around, and then things got real when he couldn’t defend me anymore” says LaMelo.
Sports medicine studies have proven that most Achilles ruptures happen due to wearing unsupportive, low top sneakers while playing basketball. Ball was wearing a pair of Big Baller Brand Z02s when he was injured. After sustaining such an injury that most would call “career ending”, a cloud of uncertainty looms over Lonzo Ball’s future. Medical experts say that it will take at least eight weeks for his Achilles to heal. Lonzo Ball is set to enter the 2017 NBA Draft this summer.
